Resources

There are many good places online to find information about your mental and physical health (and many bad ones too).  Below are a few of the best.  When you find others, remember to evaluate them using the CRAAP test featured on the “Make a Plan” tab.

MedlinePlus – Produced by the U.S. National Library of Medicine, MedlinePlus is one of the world’s largest medical information sites written so it is easy to understand. It includes information on conditions and wellness and comprehensive drugs and supplements materials. It also includes links to additional information with each link being vetted for quality by the staff at the National Library of Medicine.

MedlinePlus in Spanish (MedlinePlus en español) – Most of the content in MedlinePlus is also available in Spanish. Other languages continue to be developed as well. La mayor parte del contenido de MedlinePlus está disponible en español. También se continúa desarrollando contenido para otros idiomas.

NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) Mental Health Conditions Portal – NAMI, the largest US association with the goal of offering support and services for those with mental health conditions, provides this comprehensive portal containing information on various mental health conditions.

CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) – The CDC is a high quality site that contains information on diseases and conditions, healthy living and current health news.

Mayo Clinic Health & Diseases Guide – Developed by the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, the Mayo Clinic Health & Diseases Guides are comprehensive, high quality and written in easy to understand language. The site also includes a symptom checker.

APA App Evaluation – There are many apps available on the topic of mental health.  Some are good and others not so much.  Use this tool from the American Psychiatry Association to evaluate any app you download before you begin to use it.
